European Asylum Support Office
The European Asylum Support Office〔Website of the European Asylum Support Office http://easo.europa.eu/〕 is an agency created by European Union Regulation 439/2010 to strengthen EU Member States practical cooperation on asylum, enhance the implementation of the Common European Asylum System〔(Official website of the Common European Asylum System )〕 (CEAS), and support Member States under particular pressure.
The April 2015 Mediterranean Sea migrant shipwrecks led European leaders to reconsider their border control and migrant processing policies.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=EU leaders call for emergency talks after 700 migrants drown off Libya )〕 On 20 April the European Commission proposed a 10-point plan that included〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=European Commission - PRESS RELEASES - Press release - Joint Foreign and Home Affairs Council: Ten point action plan on migration )〕 EASO deploying teams in Italy and Greece for joint processing of asylum applications; and EASO working with Europol, Frontex and Eurojust to gather information on smugglers modus operandi, to trace their funds and to assist in their investigation.
